COBRA Administration

McGriff Insurance Services' COBRA Administration Services, provided through our wholly owned third party administrator, Stanley, Hunt, Dupree, & Rhine (SHDR), assumes the day-to-day management of your COBRA program. Our state-of-the-art systems and processes will properly and efficiently ensure your compliance with COBRA regulations.

As part of our comprehensive COBRA package, SHDR services include:

  • Plan takeover audit of current continuants
  • Maintain administration system with benefits elected by participants
  • Maintain administration system with new hires and terminations using employer-provided data through either direct online access to Client COBRA Portal or in a McGriff Insurance Services-approved format
  • Generation and mailing of initial COBRA notifications through first-class mail
  • Notification and collection of monthly premium(s)
  • Notification of participants' status to carrier(s) (enrollments and terminations)
  • Reimbursement of monthly premiums collected
  • Preparation of month-end detail premium report
  • Dedicated COBRA administration team provides:
    • Account management support to employer for compliance and administrative issues
    • Customer service to participants regarding processing and account inquiries
  • Toll-free customer service Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm ET

 

Retiree/Individual Billing Administration

SHDR's state-of-the-art system will assume the day-to-day management of your Retiree/Individual Premium Billing program.

Standard Set-up
  • Includes administration kit for the client, forms, toll-free hotline, and establishment of all plans and rates on SHDR systems
  • Participant welcome letter and payment coupons with takeover notification to enrolled participants
  • Annual renewal rate changes
  • Includes all required system updates for rate and plan changes and toll-free help hotline
  • Eligibility reporting to carrier(s)
Ongoing Services
  • Maintain administration system with benefits elected by participants
  • Maintain administration system with new participants and terminations using employer-provided data in SHDR approved format
  • Notification and collection of monthly premium(s)
  • Notification of participants’ status to carrier(s) (enrollments and terminations)
  • Prepare and transmit premium reimbursement and report to employer monthly
